Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) Exam in Vianen, Netherlands,
hosted by PureLink GmbH
In cooperation with AVIXA, the world's leading association for professional audiovisual technology
This seminar prepares participants for the CTS examination. The Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) is a personal certification accredited according to ISO/IEC 17024:2012, making it the only independent professional qualification in the AV industry based on an internationally recognised ISO standard.
Unlike a standard certificate, which is often awarded simply for attending a training course, the CTS certification requires candidates to pass an examination administered by an independent third party, similar to certifications commonly found in the IT industry.
The CTS examination consists of 100 questions selected from a comprehensive question pool. These questions are reviewed and updated annually by international AV experts.
Benefits of CTS Certification
Upon successfully passing the examination, participants earn the title of Certified Technology Specialist (CTS). This certification provides a solid foundation for lifelong learning and professional development within the AV industry.
CTS certification is valid for three years. To maintain certification and ensure up-to-date knowledge, holders must participate in ongoing professional development activities during this period.
By passing the CTS examination, you demonstrate advanced expertise in the AV field, including:
- Comprehensive knowledge of all key areas of professional AV, including audio, video, lighting, networking technologies, as well as fundamental knowledge of project management, planning, maintenance, and customer service.
- A strong focus on industry standards and best practices, including cable labelling, rack construction, rack design, image sizing for 2D content, and their practical application.
Current Certification Standards
In accordance with ISO requirements, both the CTS programme content and examination questions are regularly updated. This continuous development ensures alignment with current industry knowledge and best practices.
The examination is administered by Pearson VUE, an independent third-party testing organisation, at authorised test centres. To pass the examination, candidates must achieve a minimum score of 350 out of 500 points (70%). Even experienced AV professionals are strongly encouraged to allocate sufficient preparation time.
Who Should Attend?
CTS certification is intended for anyone involved in AV projects and offers significant benefits to:
- AV professionals seeking greater credibility with customers, particularly within the IT sector, thanks to the CTS focus on processes, best practices, and scalability.
- AV companies operating in an industry where many professionals enter from other fields, by providing a consistent minimum qualification standard across employees.
- AV companies looking to differentiate themselves as quality-focused service providers.
